From our serene dam to our scenic bike trails, every corner of Bonamanzi is designed to be enjoyed responsibly. Please read through the guidelines below before you visit — they keep nature, your family and every other guest safe.

On the grounds

Resort Rules

These rules apply to everyone entering Bonamanzi Resort & Marina, day visitors and overnight guests alike.

No speeding — 3 km/h maximum on all resort roads.
No entry after 14:00.
Pets on leashes only.
No refunds.
No motorcycles on the property.
No fireworks.
No busses.

No littering — please use the bins provided.
Proper swimwear only.
No glass or bottles in or around the pool.
No fishing.
No music / sound systems.
No firearms.
8 tons maximum vehicle weight.

All persons entering these premises do so at own risk. Bonamanzi Vakansie Oord will not take any responsibility for loss, damage or injury whatsoever. Any person entering this property is subject to the rules of Bonamanzi Vakansie Oord. This is private property. Trespassers will be prosecuted.

On the water

Bronkhorstspruit Dam Boat Rules

These rules are applied by all Bronkhorstspruit Dam resorts (Revision 2 / March 2007) and must be read together with the Water Act, Act 54 of 1956 and Section 163(4) of Act 36 of 1988 — Regulation R654 of 1 May 1964, Section 57(5)(a) of the Criminal Procedures Act, Act 51 of 1977, and the Bronkhorstspruit Council by-laws. Marshalls on the dam are empowered to remove your craft from the water for failing to comply.

No craft may be launched until the owner is conversant with these rules; owners are responsible for making them known to anyone using their craft.
Appointed marshalls displaying an orange & black flag must be obeyed at all times and may inspect any craft for water worthiness.
Power craft without adequate silencer systems are not permitted on the water.
All power craft must travel anti-clockwise around the buoys and may not cut between them, unless stopping or pulling into a ski rope.
Within 15 metres of the shoreline is an idling speed area only.
Every craft must carry enough life jackets for the maximum number of people it is designed for. Users of rubber ducks, windsurfers, wet bikes, jet skis, canoes, paddle skis, water skiers and tubes must wear life jackets.
All persons must remain seated — no sitting on the back of the seat or on the side of the craft.
No person under 16 may pilot a power craft.
No person under the influence of liquor may pilot or be taken on board any craft.
Craft pulling a skier have right of way over other power craft.
Craft under way have right of way over craft leaving the shore.
Craft pulling away from the shore must do so at roughly a 45 degree angle.
Keep a safe distance from sailboats, windsurfers, paddle skis and canoes.
The general rule of “power gives way to sail” applies.
A craft pulling a skier must carry an observer in addition to the pilot.
The observer must raise a red flag of at least 50 x 50 cm whenever a ski rope is trailing, and lower it once craft and skier proceed normally.
When a skier falls, the observer raises the red flag; the pilot turns left when safe and picks the skier up.

A skier must be dropped 15 metres from shore; the observer raises the red flag, the pilot turns left, proceeds to a point between the buoys to pull in the ski rope, then re-enters the circuit on the far side of the buoys when safe, following the anti-clockwise rule.
Whenever a skier or other person is taken on board, the engine must be switched off.
All craft must stay at least 50 metres clear of a craft displaying a red flag and keep a sharp look-out for skiers and ropes in the water.
No skier may drop a ski unless someone is standing by to pick it up.
No craft may travel in the wake of another craft.
Parasailing and kite boarding are strictly prohibited anywhere on the dam; offenders will be removed and equipment confiscated.
No bottles, cans or other objects may be thrown in the water.
Craft awaiting trailers at the slipways may not obstruct traffic around the buoys or leaving the shore.
All craft must stay at least 150 metres clear of fishing areas.
180 and 360 degree turns and tricks on Seadoos, jet skis and wave runners are strictly forbidden in all areas between the rows of buoys and the shoreline — move to the middle of the dam first.
Craft towing tubes, water snakes or similar apparatus must proceed to the middle of the dam before turns or stunts.
No craft may be tied to the safety cable crossing the dam at the dam wall.
Operating power craft or skiing before sunrise and after sunset is not permitted whatsoever.
Swimming, diving and scuba diving in the dam are not permitted.
Fishing from the shore between sunset and sunrise is prohibited unless specifically authorised by the resort. The dedicated fishing area is the Nature Reserve area on the south-western shore.
Fishing from boats (particularly bass fishing) is only allowed where it does not interfere with the resorts around the dam.
Every boat must carry two proper and efficient oars or other rowing apparatus, sufficient life jackets, a bilge pump or bucket, and one serviceable fire extinguisher per engine (twin engine boats require two).

Offences that result in arrest, a police docket, court appearance and possible imprisonment without the option of a fine include: reckless or negligent handling of any craft or ignoring the safety of others; handling any craft under the influence of alcohol or narcotics (blood alcohol above 0.08 g per 100 ml); operating power or wind driven craft between sunset and sunrise; trespassing, shooting, injuring or disturbing wildlife or nests; damaging state or private property; and cutting, damaging or uprooting flora. Parasailing and kite boarding are not permitted on Bronkhorstspruit Dam — equipment will be confiscated and a fine imposed.

On the trail

MTB Track & Walking Trail Rules

This trail was devised to enable our patrons to share in the natural beauty of the koppies and veld surrounding Bonamanzi. In this spirit we request that you abide by the following rules. A water bottle or hydration pack is essential.

Helmets are compulsory — no helmet, no ride.
No signed indemnity, no ride.
Do not litter.
Do not deviate from the trail.
Do not light fires.
No smoking whatsoever on the trail.
Do not damage or remove any fauna or flora.

Do not create any unnecessary noise.
No firearms.
No feeding or scaring of any animals.
No unaccompanied children under the age of 10.
MTB riders must go anti-clockwise, runners and hikers clockwise.
Stop before crossing any road.
No pets on the trail.
